When I saw this title - contemporary romance, geek culture - I was all "come to mama."deLaney definitely knows her world. The problem for me, was that the references got a little too much because they weren't balanced out with any kind of significant character development. There was a point in the book (I was reading it on my Kindle) where I thought, alright, great. Now we're going to really dive into the characters, we're about the third of the way in, good stuff.Except when I checked, I was actually over 70% of the way in and the book was amping up and wrapping up.I think this is a great idea and great world. I just wish the author had fleshed out the characters and the story more.Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
