DNFWhen I read the premise of this YA novel, I was pretty excited to read it. But I finally gave up trying to force myself to connect with the characters.First off I couldn't understand why Kaspar gave her a choice to become one of them or stay there indefinitely, in the first place. What about her was of any benefit to him? I hate when something happens solely because if it doesn't there is no book, despite there being a logical easy solution that would end the story right there. like kill her in the squareAnd as much as I love banter, there was something really off about the tone for me. Like nobody was taking any of this seriously. Also, the shifting POV, seemed to just randomly happen. Not on a chapter by chapter basis, but whenever it was convenient to switch.Disappointing.
