I enjoyed the mystery of the case and the Kara as a protagonist is compelling enough. The story stays more on the world building and action plot rather than the relationships, which again seems typical to a lot of my UF experiences. I've been told those develop in surprising ways, so I'll give book two a shot. Since I think I feel about this one like I did about the first Magic book by Ilona Andrews. And that series has become a fav.
