Sassy girls. Swoony boys. What could go wrong?
I think that had I read this back when it was first released (2000?), I would have loved it. It would have struck me as fresh and original in both character and world building. But I've read UF series that do both the fantasy and crime and the relationships far better so if I do continue with the series, it won't be for a while until I've gotten through more of my TBR pile.
