I had my concerns when the first line started "A hot, moist breeze" - moist, huh? The beginning was a little fraught with adjectives but it picked up from there. The plot was fairly standard - encounter of some sorts many years ago that went wrong with total misunderstandings on both sides and leads to mutual dislike in present. Thing is, I'm a fan of those stories so I was in.
I think in the end for me, it was just a bit too heavy handed. Too much of a point was made of our heroines good heart, of her biracial friend's wonderful skin - a few aspects like that. Tash was a perfectly plucky heroine and Luc a smouldering alpha male but I never fell into them the way I want to in my romances.
My chemistry level never went above lukewarm with this story.
